Vol. 20 | November 2015

Compilation Reports Available Online

Over the past few years, NISS has added many new resources to our website including training videos, company specific correspondence, a submission status grid, and timeliness reports. In the coming months, NISS will be adding another new feature – online access to Compilations. Currently, these aggregate reports are emailed to all member companies. With the new online availability, the three most recent Compilations of each line of business will be accessible whenever you need them in PDF format.

The online Compilations will be available for each member company for the lines and states their company writes, along with countrywide totals (where applicable). Members can view their states individually, or view a PDF that merges all of their states and related countrywide totals into one document. We hope our member companies will find this new website feature convenient and useful, and look forward to continuing to provide helpful resources to our member companies.

Automobile Quota Determination

One of the reports NISS sends on behalf of our member companies is the Residual Market Participation Quota Determination (Plan B), which is sent to AIPSO on November 15th each year. Companies that write voluntary automobile policies are required to write a proportional number of residual market automobile policies, and AIPSO determines your company’s quota based on the data NISS sends on your behalf.

In order to avoid receiving an incorrect number of assignments from this quota determination, it is essential that the data submitted to NISS is accurate. As NISS reviews data prior to submitting to AIPSO, we work with your company representatives to ensure accuracy. After NISS submits the appropriate data to AIPSO, each member company receives a copy of the data sent on their behalf for review. If discrepancies or inaccuracies are discovered, or if AIPSO contacts a member company with an inquiry, we ask our companies to contact NISS.

Stat Brain Teaser

A farmer is taking a fox, a chicken, and a bag of grain home. To get there, he must cross a river, but he's only allowed to take one item across the bridge with him at a time. If the fox is left alone with the chicken, the fox will eat the chicken. If the chicken is left alone with the grain, the chicken will eat the grain. How can the farmer cross the river without any of his possessions being eaten?

Please email your answers to NISSNews@niss-stat.org. A person will be randomly drawn from the first ten correct answers, and that person will win a $10 gift card from Amazon.com!

Congratulations to Patty Lufrano who won the $10 Amazon Gift Card in the last drawing for answering the Brain Teaser correctly!

For the question and answer from the last brain teaser, please view the NISS News section here.
