Technical Advisory Committee

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is a group comprised of member company representatives that advise NISS on the impact of proposed changes. This committee also shares ideas on how to make the reporting process as simple as possible and how to make the website and other resources more convenient and useful for member companies. Some of the items recently discussed include:

  • Making compilation reports available to members via the NISS website
  • Accepting data in comma-delimited format in addition to the current fixed length format
  • Creating an automated alert to let companies know when they can submit their affidavit
  • Displaying annual statement balancing reports online for members via the NISS website

The TAC meets three times each year to discuss potential changes. This committee is a crucial part of the development and testing of tools and resources for NISS companies and we thank the TAC members for their valuable input!

NISS Workshop Feedback

NISS held our Statistical Workshop at the Embassy Suites on the north side of Indianapolis on April 14th. The first half of the workshop focused on a brief history of statistical reporting, terms and concepts, an overview of the NISS internal flow of data, and annual statement reconciliation. During the afternoon, we took a deeper look into reporting different lines of business, as well as demonstrations of some of our edit tools. Other topics included reporting tips, a walkthrough of edit tools including Edit Software, and frequently found errors. Throughout the day NISS included tutorials covering all the member-interactive features of our website.

On the attendee evaluation forms, NISS received many positive comments, such as:

  • “the staff was great...they made sure you understood before continuing”
  • “great, knowledgeable speakers”
  • “a great review and helpful”

The workshop received great feedback, both from attendees that have worked in statistical reporting for many years and from those new to statistical reporting. We look forward to hosting future workshops and hope to see you at a workshop sometime soon!
